Aside from “Going Green” with technology, people start going green with rustic furniture, a trend that is still going strong, most likely here to stay because it is timeless.

2012 –

Bathroom Renovations – How can we help Edmonton?

Bathroom renovations are an undying trend, everyone will always want to make their daily sanctuary welcoming and comfortable. Your bathroom is your escape! There is a phrase that is dying though, how can I help you?

In the age where everything is instant, the world has made it easier to focus on ourselves and forget about helping each other. Now lots may disagree, I would be one of them, the reason is this, we’ve become a lot more “black and white” as a society. Those who are helpful make a conscious effort to do so.

For example, there are major YouTubers (famous vloggers) that have gone out of their way to make training and how to’s for viewers, free of charge. They’re able to do this because they can make money from the advertisements on their channels instead. Gone are the days of spending thousands of dollars on those “self help” tape series, from “gurus” like Tim Rob…er… Tony Robbins. Hence, they are making a conscious effort to help people out with what they enjoy.

Now with this article we would like to help you with research for your bathroom renovations. We’ve spent some time searching the web and have come across some great articles and videos. Usually there are 5 or more points with these types of blogs, we’ve kept it simple for you. Only 3 points will be made, but, two of them are YouTube videos. Warning: Don’t get lost in the rabbit trail of continuous “autoplay” videos.

20 Bathroom Trends That Will Be Huge in 2017

Now…the title pretty much explains itself. Once you get reading on there are some VERY inspiring pictures of upcoming trends, that if executed right can become timeless. Therefore, saving you money in the long run, especially because you won’t have to do a bathroom renovation every time there is something trendy.

Small bathroom renovations are in order as well, bathroom renovations don’t always need to be for the big, spacious bathrooms, with the free standing tub and ginormous mirrors. Edmonton bath products are supplied for all types of bathroom renos, even for small bathroom renovations.

decks edmonton, screw piles, wood decking, wood railing

4 things to consider when building your decks Edmonton

The summer weather is here! Get outside and start building your decks Edmonton! But wait, before you get to it, there are 4 things to consider, other than of course, how long you want your deck to last and how often you want to be re-staining it. So without further ado let’s proceed shall we?

1. City of Edmonton deck permit. Is it required?

Edmonton’s website states “A deck which has no roof or walls, with a floor height over 0.6 metres (2 feet) from finished grade, will require a permit.”

Ok, so that’s pretty simple, but there are a bunch of other factors to consider as well:

  • Setbacks and location of uncovered deck
  • Corner lots or decks in the front yard
  • Gas lines
  • Guardrails

You want to make sure your deck is within the lines of your building pocket. Even if you don’t require a permit, you are still building properly for resale when you obtain your new RPR (Real Property Report)

We highly recommend googling “uncovered deck permit edmonton” and reading what the City of Edmonton has to say.

2. Should I use screw piles?

It depends on what stage your yard is at and if you’re able to disrupt your landscaping.

There are many benefits of screw piles:

  • You can start building right away
  • There is no environmental impact
  • No need to excavate
  • They’re removable
  • No concrete required

Screw piles are also engineered to meet the Canadian Center of Construction Material codes.

So, if you want a minimal impact on your back yard and almost zero prep or clean up, screw piles are definitely recommended.

With any digging or ground disruption always make sure you click before you dig

Will you go with screw piles for your decks Edmonton?

3. Composite decking or pressure treated lumber?

This article > Best decking materials: Pros and Cons

Explains it in better detail, so I recommend checking it out.

When you build a deck for composite decking, you want to make sure your Joists are spaced 1 ft on center. This will help prevent it from sagging, on the plus side, your structure will be a lot more sturdy.

4. Wood or aluminum deck railing for your decks Edmonton?

Just like the section above, there are pluses and minuses to both.

Wood is natural, smells good, and is comforting, but, it splinters, warps and shrinks if not maintained properly. You have to re-finish it every couple of years, so the question you need to ask yourself is; do you have the time?

Also, do you want to be able to see your landscaping when you’re lounging on your deck? Do you want to be able to watch your kids playing? How about maintenance?

If that’s the case, then you definitely want to look into aluminum railing.

Now that we have that settled, join the conversation on our Facebook page. How are you going to build your decks Edmonton?

Edmonton weather = beautiful day please

Back off rainy weather! Edmonton weather wants beautiful weekends this year!

We’ve got a lot of projects to do this year, especially with all the rainy weekends we had last year. A lot of contractors fell behind, some projects even got moved to this year.

Edmonton garage builders have already been in full swing for a couple of months now. With Edmonton weather being even more pleasant, bathroom renovations and basement developments are getting underway. Business in Edmonton is starting to rev up for the summer.

From CBC News | Edmonton

Commercial general contractors (in) Edmonton are hopefully starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel

Commercial investment in Edmonton doubles, increasing nearly 100% from the beginning of last year. This is very exciting to see because it will encourage more jobs created, more people moving to Edmonton and more spending for Edmonton events.

This weekend is shaping up to be really nice. Searching Edmonton Weather will give you results of a pleasant Saturday with afternoon showers on Sunday.

From BuzzFeed

Knowing Edmonton with its unpredictable weather, this may not happen.

We’ve got The Heart of the City Music and Arts Festival happening tomorrow and Sunday in Giovanni Caboto Park. An enjoyable free event for the whole family. This would be a great time to get out of the house, especially if it is undergoing substantial changes (er…um… renovations).

Now, hopefully if Edmonton Weather holds up this summer we can all be rest assured that we’ll get our long awaited home projects completed, therefore, maybe even under budget.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Building cost per square foot in Festival City

Take me down to the festival city where the budgets are lean and the economy’s rusty, oh won’t you please bring my building cost per square foot down… do-do-do-do-do-do-dddOOOOOO!

Guns n’ Roses will be in Edmonton in August to perform their “Not in this lifetime” Concert tour. For many this will be the first and possibly the last time they see this world renowned, chart busting band perform. It will definitely be a once in a lifetime experience.

From Pinterest

My wife and I are very excited to be going.

When I saw the title of this concert tour it made me think of the state of Edmonton.

Paradise City started chiming through my head.

Click HERE and listen along while you continue reading…

Many homeowners have been asking themselves “why in this lifetime?” is Edmonton’s economy floundering.

The building cost per square foot can now finally come down in Edmonton, while contractor pricing can still remain fair. With one estimate defining the fair market value we’re striving to keep both contractors and customers benefiting.

By keeping the building cost per square foot down. You can be encouraged to start your renovation off with the proper budget.

Our prices are a flat rate and easy to understand percentage rate. We don’t take a percent off of the top of the job, allowing the customer to save and the contractor pricing to maintain fair margins. All of us benefit and can still ensure our building cost per square foot is at a decent rate.

Canadians’ confidence in housing has hit record highs, we at renOmazing™ want to help keep Edmontonians’ on board with this confidence.

So my point is, I’m hoping, in this lifetime, we can all help each other save in one way or another and be able to enjoy the home that we live in.

suumer, grass, patio, fresh air, leisure

Summer is in the air! Get renovating and avoid the cold!

Take a moment. Can you sense it? Summer! It’s the smell… the sounds… the memories.

Everyone knows the feeling of that fresh summer air, to me, it’s almost the same feeling I get when I grab a Starbucks in the morning catching the aroma and the atmosphere whisk by me as I enter the door. The memories I get about how excited I would be when school was out for summer. We’ve all been there. What a great feeling.

barbecue, patio, summer, friends

Ok, so, first things first. There’s a lot to get done!

Plan that barbecue, enjoying hot dogs and marshmallows on a beautiful summer evening is tough to pass up, but, you don’t have a patio or deck that can hold everyone.

Your deck/patio is already complete and looking beautiful, well now is the perfect time to renovate your kitchen, it’s warm outside, instead of having to eat out for every meal, you can save money and barbecue at home in the evenings while your kitchen is getting remodeled. Company’s Coming has always had great recipe books and they’re right here in Edmonton.

While your home is being renovated you’ll probably be wanting to get out of the house.

symphony, summer, lake, violin, festival

You’re in luck, Edmonton is known as festival city and there is a LOT to offer this year. We all know about Taste of Edmonton, K-days, Heritage Days and The Fringe. Each of those festivals have amazing food and atmosphere, but, you may be craving something a little more specific, Edmonton has the Park After Dark at the beginning of June or if you want to relax and enjoy what summer has left of it, there is Symphony Under the Sky.

Anything you do this summer, whatever it may be, enjoy every minute of it!

If a renovation is in the cards, start out with an estimate that sets the fair market value from the beginning.
